Virginia is appointed as Director of Governance for the RNN Group and works closely with the CEO, Chair of the Corporation and the wider governing body and executive team. Virginia has a long standing career in education and management. She qualified as a teacher working in a number of settings including secondary, sixth form and FE before moving into a consultancy role supporting schools implementing learning platforms. Virginia spent five years with Department for Education (DfE), initially in post with the Training and Development Agency for Schools as Head of Digital Engagement before taking up a senior advisory role within the DfE’s communications team.
More recently Virginia was the director of an educational trust in Tameside and was heavily involved in the set up of a multi-academy trust, from the application stage to the formal launch. In 2017 she moved out of the world of education briefly, following a plea, to head up a legal firm in Derbyshire, which was in need of strategic leadership and management. She successfully led the firm through three external audits, moved the head office to new premises and implemented several new technologies relating to finance and human resources.
Virginia has held the position of governor in several schools spanning primary and secondary education. In addition to her first degree in Business Management and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in ICT with QTS, she has also been awarded an MSc. in Technology Enhanced Learning, Innovation & Change. Virginia lives with her two young daughters and husband in the Peak District where she can be found most weekends either walking or cycling.
