What do these boards do?

Employer advisory boards typically advise on curriculum and training to ensure programmes align with real-world job requirements, identify in-demand skills and emerging technologies in their industry, provide feedback on students readiness for the workplace if relevant, support internships, apprenticeships, and job placements and strengthen relationships between employers and talent pipelines.

Through participation, members help identify emerging workforce trends and shape education to meet local industry priorities.

Who participates in these boards?

  • Employers and industry leaders
  • HR professionals and hiring managers
  • Sometimes alumni, trade associations, or workforce agencies

Why should you as a local employer be involved?

  • You can shape the future workforce
  • You get early access to emerging talent
  • You have the opportunity to influence training standards

Meetings focus on a priority sector, offering structured discussions that examine skills gaps and support workforce planning.

Joining a board also allows organisations to share insights, connect with other companies, and exchange best practices.
