Skills Bootcamps
Pioneering new Skills Bootcamps aimed at upskilling South Yorkshire’s construction workforce will launch in January 2026.
Skills Bootcamps are innovative courses that bridge the gap between traditional surveying and modern digital workflows. They offer learners hands-on experience in drone operations, photogrammetry, Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and Autodesk Revit, providing the practical skills needed for data-driven project delivery.
The courses aim to strengthen South Yorkshire’s digital capability and help individuals and businesses adopt faster, safer and more efficient construction methods. They are open to anyone interested in digital construction, drone operations and modern surveying techniques, ideal if you are looking to get into this sector or to upskill in your business.
New innovative courses
Skills Bootcamps will be delivered through a partnership between the RNN Group, T3 Training & Development and IPro Surveying, with support from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).
Learners will earn industry-recognised qualifications including the CAA A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC), CAA General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC), and NOCN Level 3 Awards in both Digital Construction Technology and Autodesk Revit Essentials.

Bridge the gap between traditional surveying and modern digital workflows.
Gain practical skills in drone operations, photogrammetry, BIM processes and AutoDesk Revit and step into data driven project delivery.
Our programme
Runs for 10 weeks. You will combine on-site flight training with guided software labs and structured portfolio task, building confidence from field data capture through to photogrammetry, BIM workflows and Revit.
The programme is designed to accommodate work while providing the practical contact time necessary to develop industry ready skills.

By the end of the programme
You will be able to conduct CAA compliant drone site surveys, capture and process high quality aerial imagery using photogrammetry, generate accurate orthomosaics and 3D point clouds, integrate drone outputs with BIM and Revit.
Apply digital twin methods to live projects and operate commercially with CAA recognised permissions.

Location: Dearne Valley College, Rotherham.
Duration: 10 weeks, one day per week.
Start Date: January 2026.
Cost: £6,160 (10% employer contribution if under 250 staff – £616, 30% if over 250- £1,848).

Sustainable Joinery (Timber Frame)
Develop practical skills in sustainable joinery and modern timber frame construction.
Learn hands-on techniques used in offsite construction, including wall and floor cassette installation, airtightness and fire stopping, while understanding sustainability principles and modern methods of construction.
Who is it for?
Individuals looking to start or progress a career in joinery, carpentry or timber frame construction.
Ideal for newcomers, site operatives, tradespeople or those transitioning into modern methods of construction (MMC)
What will you learn
- Timber frame theory and setting out practical.
- Wall and floor cassette installation.
- Joinery detailing and finishing.
- Airtightness and insulation techniques.
- Fire stopping and sustainability.
- Quality checks and assessment preparation.
Qualifications you will earn
- T3 Training Certificate of Completion – Sustainable Joinery (Timber Frame).
- Manual Handling and Working at Height Certificates.
- Progression opportunities to Level 2 or 3 Construction Apprenticeships (e.g. Site Carpentry, Formwork or Construction Assembly and Installation Operative – Timber Pathway)
Entry requirements
Suitable for newcomers to joinery or construction and tradespeople looking to upskill in timber frame and sustainable building methods.
