What are Skills Bootcamps?
Skills
- Flexible, short courses lasting up to 16 weeks funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).
- For adults aged 19 or over.
- Designed to equip individuals with sector-specific skills that are in high demand in the South Yorkshire region.
- Guaranteed job interview with a local employer upon successful completion of the course.
- To provide adults with the technical skills needed to start a new career, take on new responsibilities or progress within their existing industry.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Skills Bootcamp, you must meet the following general criteria:
- Age: You must be aged 19 or over on or before August 31st 2025.
- Residency: You must live in England & reside within South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority region.
- Right to Work: You must have the right to work in the UK.
- Training Limit: You can only undertake one Skills Bootcamp in any single funding year (April 1st to March 31st).

Cost Based on Employment Status
- Unemployed: The course is fully funded by the government. The primary objective is to help you secure a new job.
- Self-Employed: The course is fully funded by the government. The objective is to help you gain new skills to secure new contracts or grow your business.
- Employed (Upskilling for Existing Job): Your employer must contribute to the course cost, but the training is free to you.
- Small to Medium-sized Employers (SMEs): The employer contributes 10% of the total course cost.
- Large Employers: The employer contributes 30% of the total course cost.
