SLT Lead for FREDIE & Designated Safeguarding Lead
With 23 years of dedicated experience in further education, Laura has built her career centred on a singular mission: removing barriers to learning and creating environments where every student can thrive. After earning her BSc in Psychology, Laura began her journey at Rotherham College as a mentor within the 14–19 Development team. Following eight years of raising student aspirations, she transitioned into Student Services, where she progressed from Team Leader to Deputy Head of Department. In these roles, she mastered the management of multi-disciplinary support services and established her reputation as a strategic leader in learner welfare.
Currently, Laura serves as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, driving the College’s commitment to FREDIE (Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement). As the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Prevent Lead, she holds strategic responsibility for safeguarding compliance, PREVENT, and student protection across the Group.
A qualified Trauma-Informed Practitioner, Laura integrates her psychological background with over two decades of frontline experience to ensure the learner journey is supported by empathy, safety, and a deep understanding of individual needs. Throughout her tenure in Student Services, Laura has remained a steadfast advocate for student success, ensuring that institutional policy always translates into meaningful, inclusive support for the entire College community.
