Adult Courses Available at the RNN Group

The RNN Group delivers courses for adults on a full time, part time and evening basis covering a variety of areas at Rotherham College, North Notts College and Dearne Valley College.

As a Group, we offer maths and English support for adults too with ESOL lessons and a new government initiative to support adults with maths learning called Multiplier which employers can access to support their employees.

We also offer Distance Learning courses. Distance learning allows you to do just that – study at a distance, wherever you want, whenever you want – you don’t have to be based local to us or travel to any of our campuses, you simply plug in and progress with your chosen course with support from our Distance Learning team. Study in the comfort of your own home and flexibly around your existing commitments, at a pace that suits you.

With a variety of subject areas for you to choose from including health and social care, mental health, education and training, nutrition and health and business management, we can help you gain the skills that matter the most to you. Whether you’re looking to update or upskill for an existing job, or take a first step towards a new career, these courses can help you, whatever your needs.

We have a variety of adult skills courses that can allow you to progress in a chosen area such as plastering, bricklaying, beauty therapy and motor vehicle to name a few.

We are launching Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) in September. Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) are specialist technical courses developed with employers and delivered by industry experts.

HTQs have been developed in partnership with employers and are delivered by industry experts and focus on the skills, knowledge and behaviours that are in-demand by employers. They can also act as a stepping stone to further study, such as an apprenticeship or undergraduate degree.

By completing an HTQ you will also achieve a Level 4 or 5 qualification in your subject area.

Additionally, we also offer community courses both at our college locations and via distance / online learning. We develop and roll out our courses with our local partners to ensure we are responsive to the needs of our local communities and courses range from building self-esteem to improving creativity, British sign language to flower arranging, cookery to hand sewing and much, much more.

Finally, we also support employers with a range of commercial courses after listening to the needs of these local employers with regard to training courses that employers would like to see offered for their staff. These include courses such as IOSH, NEBOSH, Warehousing, First Aid at Work, Manual Handling, Team Leading, Equality and Diversity, CAD, Care Planning, Counselling Skills and Customer Service. You can view and download our brand new Adult Course Guide which lists courses for 2023/24 and 2024/25 to find out more. It even includes a section on distance learning courses: Adult Course Guide
