Duke of Edinburgh’s Award: RNN Group Becomes Licensed Organisation

In an exciting new development, RNN Group has officially been accredited as a licensed organisation for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Starting week commencing 29th September, students aged 14 to 24 across all campuses will be able to pursue the award alongside their studies.

RNN Group Licensed Organisation for DofE Award

Founded in 1956 by Prince Philip, the DofE was established to help young people develop practical skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility. Originally launched in the UK, it quickly expanded internationally and now reaches millions of participants worldwide.

Young people gain confidence by taking on challenges, growing through community involvement, and learning new skills while enjoying outdoor adventures.

Speaking about the achievement, Emma Swearman, Health and Wellbeing Lead at RNN Group, said:

“Becoming an Approved Activity Provider means our students can truly take part in everything the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award offers. It’s a brilliant chance for them to learn new skills, grow in confidence, and prepare for whatever comes next in their lives.”

Split into Bronze, Silver, and Gold, the Award grows progressively more challenging, requiring greater commitment at each level.

During the final stage, students take part in a residential trip that encourages self-reliance and development. Previous journeys have taken place in the Lake District, where students have honed leadership and collaboration skills in challenging terrain.

Completing the DofE Award is a proven way for students to stand out on university applications and CVs, demonstrating leadership, commitment, and resilience to future employers and educators.

Beyond recognition on applications, the DofE Award equips students with real-world experience that builds character and determination. These qualities help pave the way for success in both further education and future careers.
