New ‘Together at Every Step’ Partnership Empowers Students
Students at Rotherham College, North Notts College, and Dearne Valley College are set to gain exciting new opportunities through a partnership with Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Known as the ‘Together at Every Step’ partnership, this campaign unites RNN Group with other regional colleges to offer students meaningful volunteering, fundraising, and awareness opportunities.
As part of the initiative, Weston Park Cancer Charity will play an active role at campus events, delivering workshops to highlight pathways into health careers and volunteering. Personal development sessions will focus on cancer awareness, including how to check themselves and spot early signs of the disease. Activities will be supported by visits from the charity’s Big Purple Bus, which will offer on-site health checks and advice during key events.

Alongside raising awareness, students will engage in the charity’s social action projects, including the popular Accumulator Challenge. Each participating group will be given £10 and tasked with turning it into as much fundraising as possible, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and enterprise skills. Earlier last month, students at Dearne Valley College managed to turn a modest £30 into an incredible £2,186.

“We know that one in two of us will face a cancer diagnosis. But we also know that by standing together, we can fund ground-breaking research, treatment enhancements, and support services. This partnership will harness the influence of the education sector, and through RNN Group’s commitment, we can reach even more people across the region.”
Emma Swearman, Health and Wellbeing Lead at RNN Group, said:
“Being part of the ‘Together at Every Step’ partnership allows our students to make a tangible impact. They’re learning vital cancer awareness, contributing to fundraising, and gaining real-life skills that will stay with them long after college. It’s inspiring to see their energy and commitment supporting such a meaningful cause.”
