NCW is a one-week celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK. The aim is to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar to help support young people develop awareness and excitement about their future pathways.

NCW is a dedicated week every year allowing schools, colleges, universities, alternative provision settings and organisations to work towards. Itโ€™s backed-up with free high-quality printable, downloadable, digital and video resources for educators to support planning and delivery. This year’s theme is: Own Your Future!

The resources and activities are available all year round so schools and colleges can make careers activities come to life.

Careers support is very important so if you are a parent reading ensure your young person takes advantage of this activity for these reasons:

  • Guidance and Clarity โ€“ Many people struggle to identify their ideal career path. Careers support provides insights into job opportunities, industry trends, and personal strengths.
  • Skill Development โ€“ Whether through training, mentoring, or education, career support helps you build the necessary skills for career advancement.
  • Confidence and Motivation โ€“ Having a mentor, career coach, or support network can boost confidence and encourage you to take risks and pursue new opportunities.
  • Better Job Opportunities โ€“ With CV reviews, networking strategies, and interview coaching, careers support can help you stand out in a competitive job market.
  • Adaptability in a Changing Job Market โ€“ Industries evolve, and careers support helps you stay up-to-date with market demands, new skills, and career transitions.
  • Work-Life Balance and Well-Being โ€“ Careers support can help you find careers that align with your values, interests, and lifestyle, leading to better job satisfaction and mental well-being.
  • Increased Earning Potential โ€“  Careers support can lead to greater financial stability.

Love Your College Week is all about promoting Skills for All! Skills for All โ€“ Love Your Colleges Week is a celebration campaign run by the Association of Colleges in the UK.

Itโ€™s an annual week dedicated to celebrating further education (FE) colleges, sixth form colleges, adult learning providers and the students, staff, and communities they support. The week aims to highlight how colleges transform lives through education and skills, showcase student success stories, promote technical, vocational, and adult learning pathways and strengthen links between colleges, employers, and local communities.

During the week RNN Group will be sharing student stories on social media, host careers fairs and events, employer engagement activities, celebrate staff achievements from our recent 10th anniversary celebrations and promoting skills training and Apprenticeships.

This week matters because colleges play a key role in supporting local economies, providing career-focused education, helping adults retrain or upskill and offering alternatives to university routes. The themes for the week focus on Adult Learning Pays on Monday, young people and skills yesterday, apprentices on Wednesday, Higher Education on Thursday and celebrating the week on Friday!

A huge thank you to everyone involved in the week, we know it will be a fantastic opportunity for our learners!
