Open all summer: Learn, explore and grow with us this summer!

Summer might mean schoolโ€™s almost out for some – but not for us.

At RNN Group, our campuses are open all summer long to keep your learning journey going strong.

Whether you’re a student looking to catch up or get ahead, an adult seeking new skills, or just curious about what we offer, here are three ways to make learning feel like a summer adventure.

Summer school courses

Why should the kids have all the fun – canโ€™t adults learn something new too? Our summer school programme offers practical and engaging ways to help learners of all ages build their confidence or learn a useful skill.

That could be anything from dog grooming to DIY skills, esports to how to work safely online.

The short courses take place throughout July and August while the college students are on summer break, increasing our offer to 50 weeks of the year rather than just term time.

Our campuses are at Rotherham College, North Notts College and Dearne Valley College, with the summer school courses run by our experienced and approachable staff.

Best of all, theyโ€™re completely free to all adults over 19 – regardless of your income or current employment status.

Online distance learning

Heading away this summer? Why not trade beach reads for new skills with our online distance learning courses.

As theyโ€™re online-based, distance learning is totally flexible. There are no classes or exams. You just log in and learn at a pace that suits your lifestyle and commitments.

Youโ€™ll have between two and four months to complete the course, so youโ€™ll be surprised what you can achieve over the summer break.

And the best part is that theyโ€™re free if youโ€™re over 24 โ€“ no matter what wage you earn.

There are around 40 different CACHE-accredited level 2 distance learning courses to choose from. Just some examples include understanding autism, principles of dementia care, counselling skills, creating a business start-up, and nutrition and health.

Community course taster sessions

Why not make this the summer you discover a hidden talent? Try something new and exciting with our range of free community courses.

This summer, our community learning team is offering taster sessions in various hobby skills like macrame, crochet, origami, sewing, linocut making, floral and sugar craft, family history research, creative writing and so much more.

Whether you’re looking to spark a new hobby, learn a useful skill, or simply meet friendly faces, thereโ€™s no experience needed, just bring your curiosity and summer spirit.

From the autumn term, weโ€™ll be back to offering longer courses of between five and ten weeks.

There is no age limit, and youโ€™ll find classes in most villages across the borough, from Dinnington through to the Dearne Valley.

Want to study further?

After dipping your toes into learning with these short summer courses, explore what else you could sign up to in the future.

No matter your age, thereโ€™s still plenty of time to apply for full or part-time courses starting in September.

We offer a fantastic range of learning options from full-time vocational courses and apprenticeships to higher education and degrees.

Visit us at our next open event

Whether youโ€™re thinking about it or ready to apply, weโ€™ll be running late applicant open events at all three campuses on Saturday, 30th August between 9am and 1pm.

There will be interactive demos, campus tours, and a chance to meet tutors and students.
